Joshua B. Fisher is a Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Dr. Joshua B. Fisher is a Scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the Science Lead of the ECOSTRESS Mission. He focuses on terrestrial ecosystems, water, carbon, and nutrient cycling using a combination of supercomputer models, satellite and airborne remote sensing, and field campaigns throughout the Amazon to the Arctic. Dr. Fisher received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from UC Berkeley and his postdoctoral work from the University of Oxford, where he also taught for a few years before coming to JPL in 2010.

Prince Abudu, Rhodes Scholar, Oxford University.

Prince Abudu is an unabashed optimist and highly motivated youth leader who has an amazing commitment to excellence, along with firm determination to serve for a greater good. Prince graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and as the highest-ranking scholar in the Department of Computer Science at Morehouse College, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Prince is currently working on a DPhil in Computer Science within the Sensor Networks and Indoor Positioning Group at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Prince’s research focuses on optimizing Machine Learning algorithms i.e. Recurrent Neural Networks for IoT applications. Prince is a part time tutor for Computer Science at STAR Leadership Academy and Oxford Royale Academy. Prince is also Co-Founder and Operations Lead for Emergination Africa (www.emerginationafrica.org), an intercontinental youth-driven ementoring organization. In 2014, owing to his social venture’s success, Prince was selected to be a Resolution Project Fellow at the Clinton Global Initiative University in Arizona, USA. This year, Prince joined the Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance as an associate, being selected to represent less than 2% of young African entrepreneurs who applied to the alliance.

Juan Pablo Sarmiento Barletti, Social Anthropologist at the Centre for International Forestry Research.

Dr. Juan Pablo Sarmiento Barletti is a Peruvian Social Anthropologist at the Center for International Forestry Research. He has worked with indigenous Amazonian peoples for over a decade. During this time, he has carried out collaborative and participatory action research with communities in the Peruvian and Brazilian Amazon, examining different experiences of natural resource extraction and related issues of rights and socio-environmental injustice. Dr Sarmiento Barletti currently co-coordinates a multi-country research project that focuses on the participation of indigenous peoples in multi-stakeholder forums (MSFs) in Brazil, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Peru. As part of that work, he is currently leading the participatory development of a reflexive learning monitoring tool for more effective and equitable MSFs.

Noon Altijani Osman Abbakar, Clarendon Scholar, Oxford University.

Noon is a Sudanese Physician with an interest in healthcare delivery and systems in low and middle income countries (LMICs). She is a Clarendon scholar currently pursuing her doctoral studies at the Nuffield Department of Population Health at the University of Oxford. Noon aims to work closely with the Sudanese ministry of health in conducting her research, which aims to improve maternal health provision, through developing evidence-based contextual review tools. Prior to starting her DPhil (PhD), Noon studied for an MBBS at Ahfad University for Women in Sudan, and an MSc at the University of Oxford. She worked in areas of clinical medicine, population health research, and community engagement in Sudan, South Africa, and the United States of America. Her other interests include: human rights, refugees and forced migration, she was the first Sudanese co-recipient of the UNHCR HQ youth initiative fund and co-founded the first society that supports urban refugees and asylum seekers in Khartoum-Sudan. Outside of her DPhil, Noon is very involved in extracurricular activities and college life.
