Message of Condolence for Armen Saghatelyan, GEO Principal of Armenia

On behalf of the global GEO community, we regret to learn of the passing of Professor Armen Saghatelyan, the GEO Principal of Armenia and Director of the Center for Ecological-Noosphere Studies (CENS) of the National Academy of Sciences RA.

As an esteemed member of the GEO Executive Committee, he exemplified tremendous commitment to GEO’s vision. He was instrumental to Armenia’s decision to become a GEO Member in 2014. He was a leading figure at the GEO Ministerial Summit in Mexico and has been active in representing the CIS region on the GEO Executive Committee since 2015.

Professor Armen Saghatelyan passed away at the age of 66 on October 8, 2019. We extend our sincere condolences to his friends, family and to the communities that have benefited from his work. His legacy and contributions to GEO will be greatly cherished.
