Invitation to the 2020 Americas Symposium

The 2020 Americas Symposium, hosted by AmeriGEO, and UN-GGIM: Americas aims to bring communities together to promote the integration of earth observations, geographic, and statistical information to address with a comprehensive approach to regional and national issues. The symposium will also identify the synergies and paths toward collaboration among regional efforts related to the integration of Earth observations, geographic, statistical and other data and information.
Happening entirely online from 7-8 September 2020 the Symposium covers three major objectives:
Objective 1: Improve coordination and dialog between the Member States and relevant international organizations to share experience in the application of Earth Observations, Geographic, and Statistical information to establish better practices, adoption and use of technologies to support the decision-making process
Objective 2: Increase the Member States' capacity to develop and establish user-driven mechanisms for efficient management and use of Earth observations, Geographic and Statistical information.
Objective 3: Establish relationships and cooperation mechanisms with other programs to promote the integration of earth observations, geographic, and statistical information to address with a comprehensive approach to regional and national issues.
The Symposium Thematic Topics will explore efforts of data and knowledge integration in the Americas Region to advance the use of geographic information and Earth observations to support:
These talks intend to elevate the conversation beyond programmatic updates and facilitate an insightful discussion about multilateral cooperation,as well as bring critical competencies in policy, science, data, and technology, to advance the regional objective of working together.. Everyone working with EO and geospatial information is invited to attend. Simultaneous translation will be provided in several languages.
A Joint Declaration, which outlines key activities, will be signed at the Joint Session between UN-GGIM: Americas and AmeriGEO on September 9th, formally establishing this new collaboration
